Ridley Scott has given the world some of the greatest sci-fi projects in history dating all the way back to the 1970s. One of Scott’s first great sci-fi movies that comes to mind is Alien, the 1979 horror classic that spawned a franchise still going strong to this day. Scott remains involved in the Alien franchise as a producer, but there are also whispers that he’s going to return and direct another movie. Scott is also responsible for more modern sci-fi classics like The Martian, the 2015 blockbuster starring Matt Damon. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir, and if Weir’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he also wrote the book that inspired the 2026 sci-fi hit, Project Hail Mary.

Scott returned to the sci-fi genre earlier this year with The Dog Stars, but despite the updated star power of Josh Brolin, Jacob Elordi, and even Margaret Qualley, the film bombed in spectacular fashion at the box office. It’s poised to finish its run as the lowest-grossing Ridley Scott movie ever. While he doesn’t do much directing when it comes to TV shows, Scott is involved as a producer on some of the most popular shows of each year. Last year, this included*** Alien: Earth***, the hit sci-fi series developed by Noah Hawley. Scott is returning to produce for a new sci-fi series inspired by one of his greatest sci-fi creations later this year when Blade Runner 2099 begins streaming. This afternoon at NYCC, Prime Video released a new trailer for Blade Runner 2099 to celebrate the show being only a few weeks away from release.

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Blade Runner 2099 stars Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) opposite Hunter Schafer (Euphoria). The series takes place 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2099, and it’s set in a world where the power dynamic between humans and replicants has shifted. Prime Video has already confirmed that Blade Runner 2099 will be released on November 25, but many fans were disappointed to learn that all episodes of the show are being dropped at once as a binge. This won’t affect its chances of Season 2, though, as the series has already been billed as a miniseries designed to run for only one season.
