We have wonderful news for television fans looking for more Noah Wyle after *ER *and The Pitt. No, we’re not talking about another medical show or even his sci-fi adventure Falling Skies, but rather a role where Wyle leaned into the sort of role he plays best: the clever, carefree adventurer with a heart of gold. That’s Flynn Carsen, a part he popularized by starring in three separate made-for-TV movies beginning with The Librarian: The Quest for the Spear on TNT. These fantasy-based adventures were so popular at the time that they eventually sparked a TV continuation in the form of The Librarians, a four-season, family-friendly television drama currently streaming on Tubi that leans into the fantastical.

Part **Warehouse 13 and part *Indiana Jones ***with some Doctor Who whimsy, The Librarians is loads of fun for those looking for something magical to binge. The series picks up years after the TNT movie trilogy concluded with Flynn Carsen, still roaming the globe as the world’s only Librarian. But after over a decade on his own, the Library assigns him a new Guardian in the form of Rebecca Romijn’s tough-as-nails Col. Eve Bard. Even more surprising is the revelation that the Library has also brought in some new recruits to help protect the world from magic — art historian and architecture expert Jacob Stone (Christian Kane), mathematician Cassandra Cillian (Lindy Booth), and tech wiz and master thief Ezekiel Jones (John Harlan Kim). While Flynn at first struggles to see the potential in working on such a large scale, he eventually concedes and bases the trio and their Guardian in the Portland-based Library Annex — curated by the lovable and witty Jenkins (John Larroquette) — as they train to learn to save the world. And that’s where the real fun begins.

Four of the largest communities on the planet, and four completely different reasons to belong to one. Here is yours, what it would give you, and the argument you would be having within a week.

You belong to the fandom that is really about comfort. Hogwarts works on people because it is a place rather than a plot, and the pull is not the wizard war so much as the corridors, the food, the weather and the sense that somebody is expecting

You belong to the deepest fandom on this list, the one where somebody has always read further than you and is quietly delighted to say so. Middle-earth rewards patience more than any other world in popular culture.

You belong to the loudest and largest tent of the four, the one where three generations are all watching the same thing and none of them agree about any of it. That disagreement is not a flaw in this fandom, it is the main activity.

You belong to the thinking fandom, the one that turns up for the argument rather than the explosion. Trek has always been a series of ethical problems in space, and the people who love it love being asked what they would have done.

For four seasons, the Librarians face challenges from ancient mythology, Arthurian legend, and the pages of some of literature’s greatest works (yes, this show brings books to life). While Wyle is only part of the main cast in the episodes that he appears in — which is still more than half of the program’s total 42 installments, by the way, so he’s certainly a strong presence — The Librarians largely focuses on Flynn’s successors and how this new team of Librarians can rely on one another out in the field. Historically, there was only ever one Librarian at a time, but this TNT continuation changes the game by bringing together three characters who together equal the adventuring prowess of their predecessor. In short, The Librarians is a blast. Although it can be a bit cheesy at times, it’s the sort of camp that is earnest and addictive when binging. The characters themselves, even beyond Wyle’s leading man, bring such charisma and curiosity to the world that it makes the seasons go by very quickly.
