Marvel Studios has had a big year in 2026, and it’s all leading to the release of Avengers: Doomsday, which is expected to be one of the biggest movies of all time. The first Marvel movie of the year, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, was so successful that Avengers: Doomsday has lofty expectations if it’s going to surpass its box office total. Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man movie has grossed over $2.5 billion at the global box office, which is enough to make it one of the highest-grossing movies in history. Marvel has even found success on the small screen this year with returning shows like X-Men ‘97 and Daredevil: Born Again, which have both been picked up for new seasons. The only new Marvel Disney Plus show of the year so far has been Wonder Man, which was initially renewed for Season 2 before being canceled.

While Wonder Man wasn’t given the chance to continue beyond Season 1, there’s one more new Marvel show coming out this year that fans are excited about. We’re talking, of course, about VisionQuest, the new Marvel series starring Paul Bettany as Vision that drops on October 14. 11 years after Age of Ultron, James Spader is also returning in the series to star as Ultron, and he’s confirmed to appear in both human and AI form. As part of our Exclusive Fall Preview here at Collider, we chatted with showrunner Terry Matalas about what fans can expect to see from the new Marvel Disney Plus show. In addition to an exclusive image from the series that can be found below, Matalas also shared which cast member “blew him away” and took their role in the show to the next level, and spoiler alert, it isn’t Bettany or Spader:

“T’Nia Miller. We have purposely kept her character out of a lot of the promotion of the show because T’Nia’s performance is revelatory. Chilling, nuanced and even a little heartbreaking. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

VisionQuest will be the third and final chapter in a mini-saga that began with WandaVision and continued a few years ago with Agatha All Along. The new series is set years after the events of WandaVision, and it follows Bettany as White Vision as he tries to piece back together his memories and reconnect to his old life. There’s no word yet on if Elizabeth Olsen will return as Scarlet Witch in the series, but if she’s going to come back to the MCU after Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, VisionQuest will give her the perfect opportunity to do so. Additional cast members include Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady as Friday, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, **Ruaridh Mollica **as Tommy Maximoff, and more.

Check out the new image from VisionQuest and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the show.
