Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.
For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things Bosch, Mission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider’s news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.
He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.
His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan’s work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

Being trapped in an underground bunker as the world outside you falls apart is a grim situation in its own right, but when you’re trapped underground with a very large and angry man — a man who claims to have saved your life, but you can’t help suspecting he may have actually kidnapped you — then it might be worse. And that’s the wonderfully uncomfortable setup behind one of the best sci-fi thrillers of the last decade.
10 Cloverfield Lane is officially finding a new streaming home, with the J.J. Abrams-produced thriller having joined Peacock in the United States on October 1. After a catastrophic car crash, a young woman wakes up in a survivalist’s underground bunker. He claims to have saved her from an apocalyptic attack that has left the outside world uninhabitable. His theories are supported by a mysterious stranger who is in the bunker with them*,* but as his increasingly suspicious actions lead her to question his motives, she’ll have to escape in order to discover the truth.
The cast is led by Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) as Michelle, alongside John Goodman (The Big Lebowski) as Howard, and John Gallagher Jr. (The Newsroom) as Emmett. Dan Trachtenberg (Prey) made his feature directorial debut with the movie, while Abrams produced through Bad Robot. The screenplay was written by Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken, and Damien Chazelle (La La Land).
Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.
You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.
The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.
You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.
Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.
The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Calling 10 Cloverfield Lane near-perfect isn’t much of an exaggeration as far as the critics are concerned. The movie currently holds an excellent 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 319 reviews, alongside a 79% audience score. The critical consensus praises its claustrophobic setting, cast and relentless tension, all three of which help the movie work even before its connection to the wider Cloverfield universe comes into play.
It was also a substantial commercial success. 10 Cloverfield Lane earned $72.1 million domestically, with the contained thriller becoming the second installment in the unusual Cloverfield franchise. Unlike the found-footage destruction of the original, Trachtenberg spends most of his movie making one bunker and three people feel more terrifying than an entire monster attack.
10 Cloverfield Lane is streaming now on Peacock.
