Most-played games range from Clair Obscur to Civ to Elden Ring to Halo 2 and beyond.

For Battlestar Galactica fans, the biggest question surrounding the franchise’s future may no longer be whether it can return, but what that return should actually look like. Some longtime viewers would welcome another complete reimagining, while others would rather see the beloved 2000s continuity left untouched in favor of something exploring a different corner of the universe.

There are even plenty of fans who believe the acclaimed Ronald D. Moore series told its story so effectively that another reboot simply isn’t necessary, and would inevitably face harsh criticism across the board. That debate has only grown more fervent after Peacock abandoned its long-gestating new Battlestar Galactica series in 2024, leaving the franchise without a major television revival on the immediate horizon.

That said, few science-fiction properties have reinvented themselves as successfully over the years, with the 1978 original eventually inspiring the enormously influential 2003 reboot. Now, Battlestar Galactica is officially preparing for another return in 2027, giving fans something new to anticipate while its larger on-screen future remains uncertain.
