In over three years at Collider, senior author Jake has now penned over 3000 articles covering a wide range of TV and film for the resources, lists, utilities, news, and interview teams. Alongside interviewing stars such as Selin Hizli, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Harlan Coben, and Chelsea Peretti, Jake was lucky enough to visit the set of Aardman and Netflix’s Wallace and Gromit: A Vengeance Most Fowl in 2024, getting the chance to chat with four-time Academy Award winner Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. Jake has also worked for other publications, including Agents of Fandom. You can also hear Jake every week as the resident film and TV journalist on Track Radio.

It’s a particularly dark time to be a ***Doctor Who ***fan. Following the controversial Disney era, with former showrunner Russell T. Davies returning to oversee a disastrous run of episodes universally panned, the news arrived in June this year that *Doctor Who *had been put out to competitive tender. Last week, the show received its biggest update yet, as the future intentions of the BBC were made clear.

With an eye toward the show returning in 2028 or 2029, the pitch for prospective new production companies called for a “relevant, surprising, brave and inspiring” vision that could introduce the timey-wimey series to a new generation. “Visually, the series should feel cinematic, distinctive, and ambitious, capable of competing for audience attention in a highly competitive global market,” the document outlining the BBC’s request reads. But where does that leave Doctor Who* *fans? One thing is for sure: the series won’t be returning for several years, despite a previously promised 2026 Christmas special.

But a franchise with a history as long and storied as Doctor Who’s isn’t limited to the main on-screen series. With the show having been cancelled once before, this scenario has been prepared for, and plenty more *Doctor Who *content is on the way. The sci-fi series has a successful history of audio dramas, with an upcoming project ready to reunite a pair of show icons after 15 years apart. In The Death and Life of River Song: River and Rory, Arthur Darvill‘s Rory Williams and **Alex **Kingston’s River Song will reunite, alongside Dan Starkey’s Sontaran nurse, Strax. The new Big Finish Productions audio drama will feature four full-cast audio adventures and is due for release in February 2027.

Your answers point to the iconic sci-fi hero who shares your instincts, your values, and your particular way of facing the impossible.

You carry a weight most people would crumble under — the knowledge of what you’re capable of, and the burden of what you might have to become.

You lead with instinct, warmth, and an absolute refusal to accept a no-win scenario — because you’ve always believed there’s a third option nobody else has thought of yet.

You are the kind of person who holds the line when everyone else is losing faith — not because you’re fearless, but because giving up simply isn’t something you’re capable of.

You are not reckless, not grandiose, and not particularly interested in being anyone’s hero — you just refuse to stop when it matters.

You have been through fire that would break most people — and what came out the other side is something the world underestimates at its peril.
