One common complaint about modern television is how long it takes for everything to return. In the past, people watched over 20 episodes of a single season every year for a show’s entire run. Now, eight episodes take at least two years, and by the time a show returns, people have forgotten what they liked about it and don’t want to rewatch an entire season. However, some shows are lucky enough that viewers find them endlessly enjoyable and can rewatch them anytime. That’s the case for Starz’s hit drama, which hasn’t aired a single new episode in four years but is set to return soon.
This show premiered in 2020 and was an immediate hit with critics and viewers. It had a distinct identity that set it apart from anything else on television. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave the first season a 100% score and called it a “stunning, lyrical piece of neon noir.” Then, two years later, the second season saw the critics’ score drop to 90%, but viewers couldn’t get enough and gave it a near-perfect 99%. But the show P-Valley faced challenges beyond production’s control. From a global pandemic to lawsuits, the spicy hit was delayed for nearly half a decade, but its return is near.
Starz announced that P-Valley will end with its third season, premiering on December 4. The nine-episode season will kick off with a two-episode premiere, and the rest will air weekly on Fridays. This announcement has sent P-Valley surging on Starz’s streaming platform as viewers revisit Chucalissa ahead of the final season. The series is ranked seventh at the time of writing, indicating strong engagement.
Four icons and four completely different ways of walking into trouble. This is the one you would have been out there, why it fits, and what it would have cost you.
You have never explained yourself and you have never needed to, because people work out fairly quickly that you are the most capable person in the room without you ever having to mention it.
You are the funniest person in most rooms and the most loyal person in all of them, and you would be genuinely insulted if somebody suggested those two things were in any tension.
You never wanted this job, and you took it anyway because the alternative was standing there watching somebody less careful do it badly, which is the most Western reason there has ever been.
Nobody has ever successfully talked you out of something you had already decided was right, and a long line of grown adults has found that out the hard way.
In P-Valley Season 3, it’s here — the Promised Land Casino is open! What seemed like a legend is now reality, and Chaucalissa is swimming in money. But as everyone knows, more money brings more problems. It attracts all kinds of people from everywhere, as everyone tries their luck, and by any means necessary. Meanwhile, Uncle Clifford’s (Nico Annan) dreams for The Pynk threaten her conviction, while Lil’ Murda’s (J. Alphonse Nicholson) gang ties threaten to extinguish his light. Keyshawn (Shannon Thornton) finally tries to free herself. Series creator Katori Hall explained the decision to end the show came from the story reaching a natural conclusion. “There comes a moment when every stripper must hang up her heels. Seventeen years into this dance, that time has come,” she said in an official statement, promising a great final season.
