Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things Bosch, Mission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider’s news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan’s work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

Taylor Sheridan’s television empire has grown considerably beyond Yellowstone, with shows including Landman, Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, 1923, and Tulsa King turning Paramount+ into something of a permanent home for the prolific writer. Now, one of those worlds is expanding again, this time with Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) at the center of his own crime series.

Paramount+ has officially released the first images from** Frisco King****, the upcoming Tulsa King* spin-off starring Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr.* The new images provide the first proper look at Jackson’s Lee building his own criminal operation in Frisco, Texas, alongside Asa Germann (Gen V), Kai Caster (Yellowstone), Lilah Pate (Outer Banks), and Savanna Gann (English Teacher).

Jackson plays Washington, a hitman who previously crossed paths with Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi on Tulsa King. The character appeared in the final two episodes of the show’s third season, setting the stage for this new chapter. Sheridan is writing every episode of the eight-episode series himself, which should tell fans exactly how seriously Paramount+ is taking this one.

Germann plays Teddy, a savvy college dropout who joins Lee’s operation, while Caster plays hotel valet Keith. Pate portrays London, with Gann playing her close friend and fellow cheerleader Avery, both of whom also become members of Lee’s rapidly developing organization.

Christina Alexandra Voros and Michael Friedman will direct multiple installments, with Voros helming the premiere. Sheridan, Jackson, Stallone, Voros, Friedman, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, and Keith Cox serve as executive producers.

The show that claimed the most of your answers is the world you were built for. If two tied, both are shown — you’re complicated enough to straddle two Sheridan universes.

You are a Dutton — or you might as well be. You understand that some things are worth protecting at any cost, and that the modern world’s indifference to history, to land, to legacy, is not something you’re willing to accept quietly. You lead from the front, you carry your family’s weight without complaint, and when someone threatens what’s yours, you don’t escalate — you finish it. You’re not cruel. But you are absolute. In Yellowstone’s world, that combination of ferocity and loyalty doesn’t make you a villain. It makes you the only thing standing between everything that matters and everyone who wants to take it.

You thrive in the chaos of high-stakes negotiation, where the money is enormous, the margins are thin, and the wrong word in the wrong room can cost everyone everything. You’re a fixer — the person called when a situation is already on fire and needs someone with the nerve to walk into it. West Texas oil country rewards exactly what you are: sharp, adaptable, unsentimental, and absolutely clear-eyed about what people want and what they’ll do to get it. You’re not naive enough to think this world is fair. You’re smart enough to be the one deciding who it’s fair to.

You are a Dwight Manfredi — someone who has served their time, paid their dues, and arrived somewhere unexpected with nothing but their reputation and their wits. You adapt without losing yourself. You build loyalty through respect rather than fear, though you’re not above reminding people that the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Tulsa King is for people who are still standing when everyone assumed they’d be finished — who find, in an unfamiliar place, that they’re more capable than the world gave them credit for. You don’t need a throne. You build one, wherever you happen to land.

You carry the weight of a system that is broken by design, and you do it anyway — because someone has to, and because you’re the only one positioned to do it without the whole thing collapsing. Mike McLusky’s world is for people who are comfortable operating where there are no good options, only less catastrophic ones. You speak every language: law enforcement, criminal, political, human. That fluency makes you invaluable and it makes you a target. You’ve made your peace with both. Mayor of Kingstown belongs to people who understand that keeping the peace is not the same as being at peace — and who do the job regardless.

***Tulsa King***‘s stars certainly hope so. At FanX’s Atlanta Comic Convention, **Frank Grillo **said that he was optimistic on the chances.

“You know, I think there could be, depending on how our season pans out, but for those two (Sylvester Stallone and Jackson) especially, I think it would be silly if there wasn’t some kind of crossover for two, three, four episodes. And Sam is in our show, it’s on Instagram, it’s not giving anything away.”

Garrett Hedlund, who also stars in the series, agreed — and made it clear that Jackson’s presence alone almost demands it:

“All I want to say is Sam is a wonderful guy. He’s amazing. He’s been in every movie in the history of movies, he’s been in 9000 movies. He’s just one of these guys that are great actors, and they’re consistent in their careers, decade after decade. And then they become these iconic artists, and Sam’s one of them. There’s an Instagram post introducing Sam to the world of Tulsa King, and it’s a photo of these two giants of acting. They’d be crazy not to do it.”

Frisco King will premiere exclusively on Paramount+. A release date has not yet been announced.
