Launched almost two decades ago and finally getting its time back in the spotlight courtesy of Sony, a stunning trailer for one PlayStation 5 remake of a classic PlayStation 2 role-playing game has been unveiled.
Announced during Xbox’s Gamescom Broadcast which took place last Wednesday, the game in question is none other than *Persona 4 Revival, *an enhanced version of 2012’s *Persona 4 Golden *which just so happens to be an enhanced version of 2008’s *Persona 4. *You thought The Last of Us had too many remasters?
Set to make a return for modern-day platforms, including the PlayStation 5, *Persona 4 Revival *is developed by P-Studio and during the Xbox event, a brand-new story trailer was shown despite the game first being announced during last year’s Xbox Showcase.
As a “faithful reproduction” of Persona 4 Golden’s story, *Persona 4 Revival *follows the story of a teenager who moves to the fictional Japanese countryside town of Inaba. It is here that he, and a group of friends, become entangled in a string of mysterious murders and, thanks to the help of their newly-found Persona powers, they are able to find out about the existence of the mysterious “Midnight Channel”.
Set to launch on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S on 18 February, 2027, *Persona 4 Revival *is just around the corner, and it makes it all the more incredible that fans first experienced this beloved Atlus title almost two decades ago.
Returning the turn-based RPG elements from the original *Persona 4, *this new edition will launch alongside improved visuals, improved interface, battles, and other gameplay improvements, as well as changes to its iconic soundtrack.
Alongside fighting alongside their Personas in battle, our group of teenagers will also need to live their day-to-day lives, taking part in social activities, school work, and most importantly, increasing their skills, such as Knowledge, Courage, Diligence, Kindness, and Expression. By working part-time jobs and taking part in particular after-school activities, these abilities will grow and pay off in battle later on. If you are a Persona fan, then you are no stranger to this gameplay loop.
In battle, players will be able to utilize the character’s Personas courtesy of the Wild Card mechanic. Like previous entries, this will allow you to switch between Personas based on the types you need and the weaknesses and strengths the enemy presents.
The launch of *Persona 4 Revival *is an exciting time for fans of the beloved Atlus franchise, and with just a few months to go and a stunning story trailer under its belt, the hype has officially begun.
