Netflix’s New Hit Crime Thriller Will Officially Return for Season 2

Last year, the very best British show perhaps of this decade debuted on the platform in the form of Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham’s one-take masterpiece, Adolescence. So influential it forced change in the British government, Adolescence‘s vital exploration of a current culture of violence among young men and boys against women and girls saw it earn huge critical acclaim, resulting in four Golden Globes, eight Emmys, and countless other prizes.

In 2026, although Netflix hasn’t quite hit the 555 million viewing hour heights of Adolescence, the streamer has still delivered plenty of quality British content. On May 7, a six-part crime thriller inspired by *The Betrayer: How An Undercover Unit Infiltrated The Global Drug Trade *earned a positive 3.4 million views in its first few days streaming, before eventually crossing 10 million total viewers within ten days of release.

The series in question is Neil Forsyth’s ***Legends, ***a British crime import led by Steve Coogan, Tom Burke, and Charlotte Richie. A dramatization of the true story of undercover customs officers infiltrating the underground drug world, the series won over critics, even being called “the most watchable crime drama Netflix puts out this year” in a review by Collider’s Jessica Toomer. Following this strong response to Season 1, it’s been officially confirmed that **Legends will return for a second season on Netflix. Production is due to begin in 2027, with Anne Mensah, Netflix’s vice president of UK content, saying it is a “delight” to “go undercover with the Legends.”
