Final Fantasy 9 has proved to be a bit of a hot topic within the community, in large part because so many fans want to see it receive the same remake treatment the iconic *FF7 *got. The sheer number of rumors surrounding a potential new release is astounding, with many expecting Square Enix to announce it at practically every gaming showcase imaginable. Unfortunately, a full-blown Final Fantasy 9 project is yet to materialize, but that hasn’t stopped Square Enix from announcing projects around it.
In 2025, Square Enix did a lot to celebrate the 25th anniversary of FF9, including numerous new* Final Fantasy 9*-related projects. These ranged from commemorative artwork, figures, and vinyl, but sadly not a new game or even a remaster. Nevertheless, it was a rather spectacular offering, and, thankfully, evidently not the end of the road, as Square Enix has officially announced a brand-new Final Fantasy 9 product for fans to enjoy.
Square Enix has officially revealed *Final Fantasy 9 Denouement, a brand-new jigsaw puzzle designed to further commemorate the 25th anniversary celebration. While perhaps not quite the official return of FF9 *many had hoped for, this new product should still give those itching to get their hands on anything with Zidane and crew in it something fun to busy themselves with. The puzzle itself is rather impressive, featuring gorgeous artwork and more pieces than one could ever hope for.
The Final Fantasy 9 Denouement puzzle includes 1,000 pieces and, when fully assembled, comes in at H 51 cm x W 73.5 cm. It is available for pre-order right now on the official Square Enix website and will set you back $39.99. Those who choose to buy this new* Final Fantasy 9* jigsaw puzzle will have to wait until September 2026 for it to be shipped; so, there isn’t long for fans to wait before they can get their hands on it.
This isn’t the only upcoming Final Fantasy 9 25th anniversary project in development, so those who perhaps don’t quite gel with jigsaw puzzles still have plenty to look forward to. Additionally, there is still every chance that an official *Final Fantasy 9 *remake will be announced by Square Enix before long. Of course, every rumor and alleged leak should be taken with a grain of salt, but fans can still hope, at least for a little while longer, that a remake is on its way.
At the very least, projects like the* Final Fantasy 9* Denouement jigsaw puzzle continue to offer a fun way for fans to interact with their favorite or at least beloved *Final Fantasy *title. It is also novel that, in the case of the Denouement jigsaw, it is fully interactive, unlike some of the other 25th anniversary products. Final Fantasy 9 will always be remembered by those who’ve played it and been touched by its incredible narrative, and, while not quite the remake many had hoped for, the Denouement puzzle serves as yet another way for fans to commemorate it.
