Ellen Pompeo To Star In New Hulu Series “Chicks”
Following the success of the hit ABC series, “Grey’s Anatomy” and most recently, the Hulu Original limited series, “Good American Family”, Ellen Pompeo is once again teaming with 20th Television on a brand new project called “Chicks”.
The show is described as “a family dramedy set in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods of old Boston, about Chickie and Doreen, two estranged half-sisters who are both struggling to get by when their wise guy dad unexpectedly kicks the bucket. Their only inheritance is a legacy of two-bit crime that inspires them to run increasingly audacious frauds. As their con grows, so does their odd-couple bond, as they each start to fill the father-shaped hole in the other’s heart.”
The new pilot for Hulu is going to be created by Katie Robbins, who worked on “Good American Family” and will be writing and executive producing the project.
Ellen will once again star in the show as Chickie and also executive produce under her Calamity Jane banner along with Laura Holstein.
The concept of the show came about during conversations between Pompeo and Robbins, while they were on the set of “Good American Family.”
As with any pilot, these projects can go through creative changes and might not necessarily make it to our screen. No other details, such as who else will star in “Chicks”, or when it might get given a full order, nor when it might arrive on Hulu and Disney+ internationally, have been revealed.
