Disney+ Hosts “Alice & Steve” Premiere Event In London
Disney held a special screening event at London’s ODEON Luxe West End for the upcoming British Hulu Original series, “Alice and Steve”, which will be coming to Disney+ and Hulu later this month.
This new series follows Alice, who is devastated when her best friend Steve starts dating her 26-year-old daughter Izzy. She’s going to lose her best friend and her daughter in one fell swoop. Alice tries everything she can to end the relationship. Unfortunately for her, Steve’s more than ready for the attack, and what begins as a perfect friendship, devolves into an all-out feud.
A hilarious, messy, and complicated exploration of friendship, family, and love, “Alice and Steve” is an anti-romantic comedy that asks the question: how far would you go for love – or revenge? Will Alice forgive Steve? Will Steve and Izzy make a relationship work? Amongst all the questions hanging in the balance, one thing is certain; their lives will never be the same again.
The event was attended by series cast Nicola Walker (“The Split”), Jemaine Clement (“What We Do in the Shadows”), and Yali Topol Margalith (“The Tattooist of Auschwitz”), alongside writer-creator Sophie Goodhart, director Tom Kingsley and Clerkenwell Films executive producers Petra Fried, Andy Baker, and Wim De Greef and producer Fran du Pille.
Additional guests in attendance included Tyrese Eaton-Dyce, Marcia Warren, Eilidh Fisher and Ebony Aboagye who also star in the ensemble cast, TV personality Samira Mighty, writer Chanté Joseph and content creators Michael Aldag, Will Grande, and Joe Tasker.

The screening opened with an introduction from Head of Content, Disney+ EMEA Angela Jain. Guests were then treated to the first two episodes of the series. An on-stage Q&A with the cast followed, moderated by comedian Judi Love and podcast host and broadcaster Vogue Williams. When asked about the script, Nicola Walker commented, “I love Alice! You’re never going where you expect. It’s always more fun fighting than being friends, it’s fun being arch enemies like Alice and Steve become.”
Jemaine Clement spoke of his excitement about playing Steve and said, “I knew from page five of the script that I wanted to work with Nicola.”
Writer-creator Sophie Goodhart added that she “sees [Alice and Steve] as a complicated love story”, while director Tom Kingsley commented, “the script was already so funny, I wasn’t worried about the comedy.”
Yali Topol Margalith called the experience acting as Izzy opposite Nicola and Jemaine “a dream. I’ve learned so much from them. This has been the most incredible experience of my life so far.”
“Alice and Steve” is created and written by Sophie Goodhart (“Sex Education”), Clerkenwell Films (“Baby Reindeer”), and Director Tom Kingsley (“Stath Lets Flats”) and premieres on June 8th with all six episodes available on Disney+.The Hulu Original series (6×30′) was commissioned from the UK by Lee Mason, Vice President, Scripted, Disney+ EMEA.
