Well, if this doesn’t prove to you that critics don’t know everything, we don’t know what will. The Mandalorian and Grogu has become the highest-rated Star Wars movie of the modern era by Rotten Tomatoes audience score, and that says an awful lot about social media noise and one-star reviews, doesn’t it? The film currently has an 88% Popcornmeter score from more than 5,000 verified ratings, which is enough to put it ahead of the other Disney-era theatrical Star Wars releases with audiences.
As much as there has been criticism for the movie being an “extended television episode” and having no depth to it, audiences, it seems, cannot get enough of Grogu’s shenanigans, finding anything edible literally and trying to steal it without anyone noticing, the Anzellans and their utterances of “bad baby”, and Mando just Mando-ing his way around the galaxy. While the film might seem rather simplistic compared to other Star Wars outings, it looks like that’s just what people were after. And the box office numbers are beginning to reflect that.
In its first weekend, The Mandalorian and Grogu opened at No. 1 with around $102 million domestically over the Memorial Day weekend and $165 million worldwide, and that’s a reasonably good opening for a big movie, but there’s a but coming. If you’re going by previous standards, it’s a slightly softer launch, and it’s the lowest opening weekend for a Disney-era Star Wars movie, below the franchise’s previous lowest tally, *Solo: A Star Wars Story. *However, context is needed: this movie had around half the budget of *Solo, *and with excellent word of mouth beginning to spread, this one might just have legs.
The scores below reveal how the Force sees you. Your highest number is your true alignment. Read on to understand what that means — and what it will cost you.
Disciplined, compassionate, and deeply attuned to the living Force, you have walked the path long enough to understand its demands — and accept them. You lead not through authority alone, but through example. You have felt the pull of the dark side and chosen otherwise, every time. That is not certainty. That is courage.
You are earnest, powerful, and brimming with potential — and you know it, which is both your greatest asset and your most dangerous flaw. You act before you think, trust your gut over your training, and sometimes confuse impatience for bravery. The Masters see something in you, though. The question isn’t whether you have what it takes — it’s whether you’ll be patient enough to find out.
You are not simply dangerous — you are certain, and that is worse. You have decided what the galaxy needs, and you have decided you are the one to deliver it. Your power is genuine and formidable, earned through sacrifice that would have broken lesser beings. But examine your victories carefully. Every Sith believed their cause was righteous. The dark side’s cruelest trick is that it agrees with you.
You were forged in fire and reshaped by those who found you at your lowest. You serve, because service gave you structure when you had none. Your allegiance is not to an ideology — it is to survival and to the master who gave you purpose. But there is something buried beneath the conditioning. The Jedi you hunt? You recognize them. Because you remember what it felt like before the choice was taken from you.
You have looked at the Jedi Code and the Sith Code and found both of them incomplete. You walk the line not out of indecision but out of conviction — you genuinely believe both extremes miss something essential. The Jedi don’t fully trust you. The Sith think you’re wasting your potential. They’re both partially right. But so are you.
The cast of The Mandalorian and Grogu includes Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Din Djarin/The Mandalorian, Sigourney Weaver (Alien) as New Republic Colonel Ward, Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) as Rotta the Hutt, Jonny Coyne (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) as, rather creatively, warlord Janu Coin, and Grogu (The Mandalorian) appearing as himself. The film sees Din Djarin and Grogu sent on a quest by Colonel Ward to retrieve Rotta the Hutt, and in doing so, find a way to capture an Imperial Remnant leader.
