A hit 2026 horror thriller is now streaming on Disney+, and it is performing well worldwide. Disney+ features a large catalog of movies that span multiple studios, including 20th Century Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Marvel Studios. The charts have featured recent movies, as well as more nostalgic films that have risen up the charts ahead of a new installment’s release.
One movie that has been on Disney+‘s charts for several weeks is Zootopia 2. The animated sequel was a smash hit at the box office, grossing around $1.9 billion worldwide. That achievement led to streaming success once the film landed on the platform earlier this year. Another that has done well recently is The Devil Wears Prada. The 2006 movie has been trending alongside the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in theaters, as audiences either rewatch or watch the film for the first time.
Excitement for the sequel translated to its recent streaming success, and has been displayed in the sequel’s box office success, as Prada 2 has made over $433.2 million worldwide. In May, Disney+ is adding new movies to the platform, including We Bought A Zoo, We Bury the Dead, and Alien: Romulus.
One new film that was recently added to Disney+ is Send Help, a new horror film from director Sam Raimi. The movie was a hit with critics and audiences when it released in theaters in January, and is now at the top of Disney+‘s worldwide movie charts. It’s also trending in the U.S., but on another platform.
Send Help stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien as a pair of colleagues who become stranded on a deserted island after surviving a plane crash. As they try to survive on the island together, their dynamic changes and their rivalry begins to become more intense. The film was directed by Raimi, who previously directed movies like Evil Dead, the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The film performed well with critics and at the box office. Send Help earned a 93% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, and grossed over $94 million worldwide on a $40 million budget. The movie was recently added to Disney+, and is finding streaming success worldwide. According to Flix Patrol, Send Help is currently at the No. 1 spot on the platform’s worldwide chart.
In the U.S., Send Help was recently added to both Disney+ and Hulu. Hulu is not available outside the U.S., which is why the film was only added to Disney+ in other countries. However, according to Flix Patrol, Send Help is also No. 1 on Hulu in the U.S. Currently, the film that’s No. 1 on Disney+ in the U.S. is The Devil Wears Prada.
Raimi established himself as a talented horror director with 1981’s The Evil Dead. The film grew into a franchise with Evil Dead II, and Army of Darkness, which Raimi also directed. The franchise has had a resurgence in recent years with the 2013 remake, as well as 2023’s Evil Dead Rise. Evil Dead Burn is releasing later this year, with Evil Dead Wrath set to premiere in 2028.
Prior to Send Help, Raimi’s last horror movie was Drag Me to Hell, which was another critical and box office hit. That film earned a 92% RT critic score and earned over $90.8 million on a $30 million budget. However, the film was PG-13, making Send Help his return to R-rated horror.
Send Help features Raimi’s trademark visuals and gross-out moments, but is also boosted by fantastic performances from McAdams and O’Brien. Their chemistry is excellent, and they deliver plenty of comedy that bring light to the film’s darker scenario. Even if horror isn’t one’s favorite genre, Send Help is worth watching on Disney+ or Hulu for Raimi’s unique style and the engaging relationship between the film’s two leads.
