“Last Train To North America” Coming Soon To ESPN
Disney has announced details on a brand new sports documentary from ESPN called “Last Train to North America”, which is hosted by ESPN’s renowned journalist, Martin Ainstein. The nine-episode series follows a unique rail journey across the United States, Mexico and Canada as the three nations prepare to jointly host the biggest sporting event of the summer.
Produced by ESPN Originals, “Last Train to North America” takes viewers through some of the continent’s most iconic host cities, exploring the cultures, communities and stories shaping the road to the 2026 World Cup. Through immersive train travel, the series explores how soccer connects people across borders, languages and traditions.
Now in its fifth season, “Last Train” continues as a three-time Emmy-nominated documentary franchise produced around the world’s biggest sporting events, including the World Cup and Olympic Games in Russia 2018, Japan 2020, Qatar 2022 and Paris 2024. The series combines sports journalism and immersive travel storytelling to spotlight the people, cultures and communities that give each host destination its identity.
“The Last Train to North America” is part of ESPN’s special news and information coverage leading into the 2026 World Cup. ESPN will deliver extensive English- and Spanish-language news and information coverage of the tournament across its media platforms, bringing fans closer to the biggest storylines on and off the pitch.
This new series will premiere on Tuesday, 12th May 2026, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN Deportes and ESPN2, with two new episodes debuting weekly. The series will debut a new episode every Monday. Episodes will also be available on ESPN Unlimited and ESPN On Disney+ for bundled subscribers. No international Disney+ release details have been confirmed.
