Grand Theft Auto 6 is unrivaled in its anticipation, perhaps contested only by the hypothetical announcement of anything explicitly related to Bloodborne. And, even though fans should steel themselves in case any unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances do befall it, evidence has been doled out subtly for the last little while that Grand Theft Auto 6’s release date this fall is 100% secured.
For example, Sony has recently been urging gamers to make the leap to current-gen hardware sooner rather than later. All signs are pointing toward players actually seeing full-scale marketing as soon as this summer, with Trailer 3 and Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders surely imminent, and Sony, in particular, seems to be banking on Grand Theft Auto 6’s lack of a PC version at launch.
Per Sony’s Corporate Strategy & Earnings Announcement Presentation slideshow, as noted by Twitter/X user GTA 6 Countdown, Grand Theft Auto VI and Marathon have interestingly been lumped in with a handful of first-party, PlayStation-exclusive titles: Ghost of Yotei, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Saros. If nothing else, this demonstrates how fortunate PlayStation feels to have Grand Theft Auto 6 to lean on in the holiday season when the hype for Marvel’s Wolverine begins to subside a month later.
User SectorShadow Gaming writes that they are “not even surprised. GTA 6 isn’t just another release, it’s the kind of game that sells entire consoles.” In a similar vein, user Cryptomania states, “Sony’s just hedging their bets hard since GTA6 is the biggest console mover either way. Marketing deal or not, that Nov 19 date feels rock solid now with how they’re positioning it.”
Of course, this also suggests Marvel’s Wolverine’s release date is steady, too, and with more details about Insomniac’s upcoming Marvel game slated to arrive in “spring 2026,” we can probably expect some sort of PlayStation State of Play or Showcase within the next few weeks. Grand Theft Auto 6 has obviously been far more elusive, enduring a couple of delays and leaving fans completely in the dark about when they should expect to hear any news about its ongoing development.
Nonetheless, it is roughly six months until Grand Theft Auto 6’s launch, and it is finally likely that the days between now and the game’s release will only continue to dwindle, with the longest wait hopefully behind fans and not in front of them still.
Once Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 3 arrives, or players are graced with any other marketing materials, the countdown will truly be on. After that, it should be an exciting race to the finish line.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to be released on November 19, 2026.
