We all hate it when we’re in a nice small town and then, ugh, federal law enforcement shows up and starts asking us all questions nobody really wants to know the answers to, right? And that’s especially true when the person trying to keep the peace is already balancing family stuff, the concerns of the community and a job that’s doing its best to make everything personal. And this week’s episode of Sheriff Country looks like it’s gonna push all of that to the surface, with a major investigation landing in Edgewater and forcing some very uncomfortable choices. So, naturally, nobody is getting a calm Friday night.
Collider is excited to exclusively debut a new clip from Sheriff Country Episode 18, “The Gambler,” which airs Friday, May 8, from 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT on CBS. The episode will also stream on Paramount+, live and on demand for Paramount+ Premium subscribers, and on demand the next day for Paramount+ Essential subscribers. The new clip focuses on Wes and Gina, teasing the kind of tension that comes when a federal crackdown starts making its way through Edgewater. The official episode description reads:
“A dramatic federal crackdown rocks Edgewater and forces Sheriff Mickey Fox to confront a sprawling investigation that pits loyalty to her community against the reach of the DEA. The case pushes Mickey closer to home than ever before with consequences for the people she loves the most, on Sheriff Country, Friday, May 8.”
The cast of Sheriff Country includes Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, Homeland) as Sheriff Mickey Fox, **Matt Lauria **(Friday Night Lights, Kingdom) as Boone, Michele Weaver (Love Is, Council of Dads) as Cassidy, Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs, Ugly Betty) as Travis, W. Earl Brown (Deadwood, The Mandalorian) as Wes, and **Diane Farr **(Fire Country, Numb3rs) as Sharon Leone.
Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.
You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.
The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.
You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.
Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.
The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
It’s an easy hook because Mickey’s job is to protect Edgewater, but this episode is putting her in the middle of a case where protecting the town may not align with protecting everyone in it, as a DEA investigation is very different from your standard local emergency. It brings suits into town with ego issues, bigger consequences and the kind of scrutiny nobody needs, so for Mickey, that becomes even harder when the case starts moving closer to the people she loves.
Sheriff Country airs “The Gambler” on Friday, May 8, at 8:00 PM ET/PT on CBS, with streaming available on Paramount+.
