FOX Cancels “Going Dutch” After Two Seasons
After two seasons, FOX has announced that the comedy series, “Going Dutch” will not be returning for a third season on FOX and Hulu.
The show follows an arrogant, loudmouth U.S. Army “Colonel Patrick Quinn”, played by Denis Leary, who, after an epically unfiltered rant, is reassigned to the Netherlands, where he is punished with a command position at the least important army base in the world. After serving with distinction in every warzone over the last three decades, he now finds himself in charge of a base with no guns, no weapons and no tactical purpose. Instead, it has a Michelin Star-level commissary, top-notch bowling alley, lavender-infused laundry and the best (and only) fromagerie in the U.S. Army.
Surrounded by a diverse group of military misfits, the colonel tries to reinstate discipline and professionalism with the help of the base’s previous interim leader, who just happens to be his estranged daughter. The series also stars Danny Pudi, Laci Mosely and Hal Cumpston. Joe Morton, Catherine Tate and Dempsey Bryk are featured in heavily recurring roles.
Unfortunately, no details on why the cancellation happened, but it’s likely due to low ratings, as the show was the lowest-rated entertainment program at Fox. It also hasn’t been picked up for much international distribution on other streaming services, unlike “Animal Control”.
The series came from FOX Entertainment Studios, writer/executive producer/showrunner Joel Church-Cooper (Brockmire) and executive producers Denis Leary and Jack Leary (Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll) through their production company Amoeba.
“Going Dutch” is produced and distributed by FOX Entertainment Studios, where it is aired on FOX in the United States and due to a multi-year deal, was also available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+. The latest season is still available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.
