Disney To Showcase “Hexed” At The Annecy International Film Festival
This coming June, Disney is heading to the Annecy International Film Festival in France to promote some upcoming animated films and shows, including the new original film, “Hexed”.
During the week-long event, Walt Disney Animation Studios will be hosting a special hour-long showcase presentation where it will share new details on the upcoming original film “Hexed”. Guests attending the event will get to go behind the scenes of the film, which is an original coming-of-age saga that will be released exclusively in theatres in November, before heading to Disney+ in early 2027.
The showcase will take place on Friday, 26th June 2026, and filmmakers from Walt Disney Animation Studios will once again take the Bonlieu Grand Theatre stage to unveil never-before-seen footage from the studio’s upcoming original feature film, “Hexed”*. In the all-new magical coming-of-age saga, an unconventional teenage girl discovers secret magical abilities that, once unleashed, hurtle her into a spectacle-filled journey through a hidden realm of witches. Don’t miss this Annecy-exclusive presentation and expect a few surprises!
Pixar will also be in attendance at the event, with a panel on the rendering of the upcoming movie, “Toy Story 5” on Thursday, 25th June 2026. In addition to sharing more details on its upcoming “Gatto” film, along with a new short film.
Disney’s Television division will also be in attendance to promote the upcoming original series, “Dragon Striker”, with a live-drawing panel on Tuesday, 23rd June 2026 and another general panel on Wednesday, 24th June 2026.
Generally, Disney animation studios do tend to reveal plenty of details at the event, though sometimes this information isn’t necessarily shared publicly. In previous years, there were big announcements regarding new Disney Channel/Junior shows that will be heading to Disney+ in the years ahead, but it’s not always guaranteed.
Unfortunately, the panels won’t be livestreamed, so the only way to see these presentations is in person at the film festival in Annecy, France.
Roger’s Take: While those in attendance will no doubt get a treat in terms of learning more about the upcoming projects, with the event taking place a little later in the month than usual due to a G7 summit, I suspect we will have already seen the “Hexed” teaser trailer released alongside “Toy Story 5” and it might be a little too early to share a teaser trailer for “Gatto”. But hopefully, we will get to hear more about some other projects Disney Television Animation is working on.
