While it’s been teasing a “Super Climax” for what feels like an eternity at this point, Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover hasn’t taken its foot off the gas with its latest promotional material. Beyond even the initial tease of Asta and Yuno in corresponding Wizard King-esque attire for the manga’s 10th anniversary last year, the latest glimpses focus squarely on Asta as he’s about to settle his rivalry for the manga’s finale.

Spotted as a leaked promo page from the upcoming issue of *Weekly Shonen Jump *this Sunday, the May 1, 2026 issue of Jump GIGA’s preview shows the cover art of Asta rendered as the Clover Kingdom’s next Wizard King. Sitting atop what appears to be a new ornate throne with notably more white fur lining than even the previous promo, Asta looks good as the Wizard King, but the cover teases this to only be the hard-earned result of the next battle.

Shown atop a throne notably different from the one used by Julius Novachrono, the latest Black Clover cover art for the front of Jump GIGA Spring 2026 should likely be taken with a grain of salt. While it’s an official design with clear intent to envision him achieving his lifelong goal, that same cover teases a crucial showdown to decide whether Asta is truly worthy for the role.

Asta vs. Yuno, the Decisive Wizard King Battle Erupts!

Asta will have to settle his rivalry with Yuno to determine who is the ultimate worthy successor to Julius after his passing. Given what’s already been stated and the predictable outcome ahead being Asta ascending the throne, it’ll be an exciting clash nonetheless, even if fans can already envision the outcome. But whether this comes in the next cluster of chapters remains to be seen.

With the story resolving the ultimate threat to the Clover Kingdom and indeed Black Clover’s world by defeating Lucius Zogratis, with Julius reversing his wanton destruction before ultimately fading away, Asta and Yuno’s fight reads similarly to a Valley of the End scenario. The greatest battles are resolved, but that doesn’t mean the final chapter will necessarily drop in just over a week.

Black Clover chapters #390, #391, and #392 will release on May 1 (April 30 over here) undoubtedly featuring Asta and Yuno’s fight, but this doesn’t necessarily mean #392 will be the final chapter. With Manga Plus indicating only that a new chapter is arriving on April 30 for readers in the West, it’s reasonable to believe that the Super Climax may indeed finish in this release, given that it usually marks an upcoming final chapter. However, Freytag’s Pyramid indicates that this notably less deadly brawl already sets up the falling action and resolution for Black Clover’s plot.

Black Clover’s Return Lands Official Release Date, And It’s Sooner Than Fans Thought ](/black-clover-chapter-390-release-date/)

Black Clover is officially returning and its release date is a lot sooner than anyone expected, so do not miss its upcoming chapter or release.

Plenty of threads still need to be resolved: beyond Asta and Yuno’s claims to the Wizard King title, romances need to be addressed, the future of Clover Kingdom and its neighbors must be addressed, and lingering questions should be answered. Whether Asta can properly move on from Lily and be with Noelle, whether Yami and Charlotte can resolve their hilariously awkward romantic tension, and if Charmy can bag a Spade Kingdom royal, are all burning questions within the fandom. While the series could conceivably end in 2026, it’s perfectly fair if fans, or indeed the creator, don’t wish to say goodbye just yet.

But as readers have already pointed out, even this cover rendition of Asta as the Wizard King would greatly upset the nobility in earlier chapters. The biggest plot resolution will need to be whether Asta the commoner can end his home’s classist discrimination and make a better tomorrow for those he may soon lead. Black Clover has plenty of questions left to answer, and in a week’s time, fans will start to see the answers.
