Hulu Developing “The Kindred’s Curse Saga” Series
20th Television is developing a new drama series based on the bestselling romance book, “Spark Of The Everflame” for Hulu/Disney+, which is going to go by the name of “Everflame”.
The new series is set in a world where mortals live in poverty, subjugated by an elite race known as the Descended. When her mother goes missing, Diem Bellator suspects that the most powerful and most feared Descended in the kingdom – Prince Luther Corbois – may be responsible. As she embarks on a search for answers, she becomes an unexpected force in the mortal rebellion against the Descended, and the center of an even more unexpected love triangle.
“Spark Of The Everflame” is the first book in the popular fantasy series, “The Kindred’s Curse Saga”, which has been written by Penn Cole. She said in a statement on social media regarding the new series:
I am so excited to announce that The Kindred’s Curse Saga is in development at 20th Television / @hulu for a TV adaptation!! I’ve been working behind the scenes with our incredible showrunner, Heidi Cole McAdams ( @hcmcadams ), for over a year – that was a VERY hard secret to keep! Previously, Heidi was Co-Creator and Co-Showrunner of the Hulu series Death and Other Details. She’s also the showrunner for another book adaptation we can’t yet disclose, but it’s a series many of you love and I know it’s going to be amazing. Early on, I met with several different producers and studios who had interest in optioning the series, and with each meeting, I had a list of things I wanted to hear to feel comfortable handing over these characters that mean so much to me. When I met Heidi, she hit every single item on my list within the first ten minutes, completely unprompted. I knew immediately that TKCS was going to be in great hands with her, and after a year of working together, I’m even more confident of that now. I’ve been super involved in the process and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s going. Watching Heidi dive into these characters, adding depth that the first-person POV of the book doesn’t allow for, has been a joy. She has a great eye for how to translate books to the screen in an engaging way, and she’s a big fan of romantasy, so she gets what makes these stories so beloved by readers. We’re still early in the process, but we’re really happy to be working together and excited about what the future might hold. Heidi Cole McAdams will also be working on the show as a writer and executive producer. She has previously worked with Hulu on the original series, “Death And Other Details”.
The “Spark of the Everflame” novel has sold over 3 million books since it was first published in 2023.
No other details on the upcoming series, such as who will star in it, when it might begin production or when it will be released, have been revealed, as it’s still in the early stages of development.
