“Will Trent” Renewed For A Fifth Season

April 13, 2026 Roger Palmer

Just ahead of the season finale airing in May, Disney has announced that its hit show, “Will Trent”, will be returning for a fifth season.

Based on Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling “Will Trent” series, Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. Now, Will uses his unique point of view in the pursuit of justice and has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

“Will Trent” stars Ramón Rodríguez as Will Trent, Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood, Kevin Daniels as Benjamin Franklin, with Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner.

Executive producers are Liz Heldens, Daniel Thomsen, Karine Rosenthal, Karin Slaughter, Oly Obst, Jason Ensler, Ellen Marie Blum and Ramón Rodríguez. Heldens, Thomsen and Rosenthal also serve as showrunners. The series is produced by 20th Television.

The renewal shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as “Will Trent” is one of the most-watched scripted shows on ABC in terms of Live+Same Day viewership and is one of the few shows to gain more viewers year on year.

A video was released on social media confirming the news, with many of the cast of the show whispering the news to other cast members.

New episodes are being released each week on ABC and on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. The first three seasons of “Will Trent” are available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
