Bethesda Entertainment games have become well known for the number of details and little secrets that they manage to include for players to uncover, whether you prefer the fantasy setting of The Elder Scrolls, or the post-apocalyptic bleakness of Fallout.
The most recent game in the mainline single-player series for the latter was Fallout 4, which still has players exploring its every nook and cranny despite releasing over a decade ago. The release of the Anniversary Edition brought with it a bunch of Creation Club content, but if you’ve stuck with the base game, there’s still plenty to uncover.
Arguably the most famous mystery in the game is The Secret of Cabot House, an entirely missable side quest that culminates with you discovering a man named Lorenzo Cabot being kept in an underground cell. The kicker there is that he’s also 452 years old, having been granted a form of immortality from an ancient alien artifact he discovered.
At the same time, useful gameplay discoveries like the duffel bags and root cellar in Sanctuary, as well as the hidden treasure vault in an unmarked location are all worth knowing about before your next playthrough.
Leaving all that to one side, post-apocalyptic Boston’s biggest settlement is also the site of a secret room, and it gives you one of the best views in the entire game.
Over on Reddit, one user shared their delight at discovering the secret room above Diamond City, hailing Fallout 4 as the ultimate sandbox RPG that’s still capable of throwing up surprises after more than 500 hours.
If you want to take a look for yourself, one user explains exactly how to get there, saying, “If you’re facing the Diamond City front gate from the outside, turn right and go along the wall until you reach the back corner next to a parking lot. Usually there are some mongrel dogs there.
“Or if you’re leaving Diamond City, exit and turn left. The secret room is up on the roof. You can get there with a power armor jetpack or by doing some creative parkour.”
It’s a great place to use as an early game hideout in a really useful location, and it comes equipped with a bed and power armor station, though you will have to remove the body to really make it feel homely.
As lovely as it is that players are still having a great time with Fallout 4, lets hope Todd Howard brings us news of the sequel before we are all old and grey.
