Disney Picks Up New 50 Cent Documentary Series

April 7, 2026 Roger Palmer

Following the successes of documentaries on popular musicians such as Taylor Swift, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, along with bands like “The Beatles”, it’s been revealed that Disney has picked up the rights for a new series about rapper 50 Cent.

This new documentary series will chronicle the evolution of 50 Cent—from the streets of Queens to global cultural dominance—exploring how he relentlessly reinvented himself across music, business, and film while redefining the rules of power, influence, and success. Through an intimate and revealing lens, the series portrays a figure who has consistently transformed conflict and adversity into enduring cultural impact.

According to a post from 50 Cent, Disney’s Hulu paid $75 million for the documentary, beating out Starz, Netflix and Apple.

According to Deadline, the untitled project is directed by Mandon Lovett, who previously directed Paramount+’s “For Khadija: The French Montana Story” and Hulu’s “Rap Caviar Presents”. It is produced by The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), which produced Rap Caviar Presents, and Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television.

Patrick Altema will be working on the project as showrunner, who will executive produce alongside Curtis Jackson, Mandon Lovett and IPC’s Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman.

No other details on the upcoming series, such as when it will be released, have been announced, but expect to see it released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.

Roger’s Take: While Disney has had lots of success with its other music documentaries, generally they’ve been aimed at older audiences, and I think mixing it up with different artists and genres is a great idea. Hopefully, people will be interested in learning more about 50 Cent.
