Although the final episode was released on December 31, 2025, the fallout of the long-awaited finale of the huge sci-fi hit Stranger Things made waves in 2026. The last season might’ve faced more backlash than any season prior, but there is no denying just how popular the series continued to be despite over three years between Seasons 4 and 5. With 31.5 million views in its first week, the *Stranger Things *finale helped propel the series to ninth place in the list of most-watched English TV shows of all time on Netflix.
As excited as most were for this last episode, it arrived with the melancholy reality that the main series of Stranger Things would soon be no more and leave an Upside Down-sized hole in the watchlists of millions. Thankfully, just three months later, series creators Ross and Matt Duffer would be back on Netflix with another project, executive producing the mind-bending horror series *Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, *which debuted on March 26. “A certain atmosphere of horror is felt the week before the celebration of an unfortunate wedding,” a brief synopsis for the series reads.
Less than two weeks since its debut, this exciting eight-part series is continuing its initial success. At the time of writing, Something Very Bad is Going to Happen is one of the ten most-streamed shows on Netflix in the world. Placing third in the list, only two shows are currently proving more popular. In second place is Bloodhounds, an underrated K-drama blending martial arts and crime drama. At the top spot is XO, Kitty, which recently split audiences after returning for its third and final season.
Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.
You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.
The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.
You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.
Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.
The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Scoring 89% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, there is no denying the fact that Something Very Bad is Going to Happen*** ***has been a hit with critics. In Collider’s review of the series, Jasneet Singh awarded a near-perfect 9/10, saying the show “transfixes the audience with the same dread that haunts the soon-to-be hallowed halls of the Cunningham vacation home.” She added, “It’s the perfect maelstrom of white and red, where ‘until death do us part’ means something very bad indeed.”
*Something Very Bad is Going to Happen *is streaming in full on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for all the latest streaming stories.
