Since having her breakout moment in 1999 with Jawbreaker, Judy Greer has become one of the most important supporting movie and TV actresses over the last 25 years. She’s famous for playing Lucy Wyman in the 2004 film, 13 Going on 30, and she’s also known for her work as Karen in Jurassic World (2015), Maggie Lant in Ant-Man (2015), and Cornelia in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014). Greer was recently part of the ensemble cast of The Long Walk, the 2025 Stephen King adaptation that was a hit at the box office before going on to smash streaming charts.
One of the most exciting projects in the works for Greer is Mabel, the tender, coming-of-age drama also starring Christine Ko, Lexi Perkel, and Quincy Dunn-Baker. The film was an Official Selection at the 2024 San Francisco Film Festival, but it’s been lying in wait for the last few years while it awaits distribution. Collider is thrilled to not only exclusively preview the first official trailer for Mabel, but to also announce that the film will be released in New York at Cinema Village on April 17 before making its digital debut on April 21 with Tribeca Films. The film marks the scripted feature directorial debut of** Nicholas Ma**. Joy Goodwin also contributed to the script, and the film was executive-produced by Jennifer Westphal,** Joe Plummer**, Bill Helman, John Boccardo, Derek Esplin, Duane Fernandez, Rebecca Fernandez, and Clara Wu.
Party Down in Pawnee — Adam Scott Comedies Collide in Today’s Collider TV Quiz! ](/tv-quiz-apr-3-2026-parks-and-recreation-party-down/)
Whether you’re an innie or an outie, you’ve undoubtedly enjoyed the workplace comedies of Adam Scott. Let’s all cater to this state auditor.
The official synopsis for Mabel reads as follows: “Biracial Callie (Lexi Perkel) loves trees and plants and little else in Nicholas Ma’s warm debut feature. Surly with her parents and intolerant of people who don’t share her interests, she’s also unhappy about changing middle schools after her family relocates. But as luck would have it, substitute teacher Ms. G (Judy Greer) is starting a botany unit in a high school science class, and Callie wangles her way in. Held rapt by Ms. G’s lectures and online speeches, Callie develops an experiment raising chrysanthemums in darkness and manages to lure Agnes, her ebullient younger neighbor, into working on the project with her. Precocious, determined, and wryly funny, Callie is a unique protagonist who leverages her love of botany to propel herself into adolescence.”
Mabel is a charming and quietly moving coming-of-age tale that’s sure to tug at the heartstrings of fans around the world when it makes its digital debut later this month on April 21.
