2026 has been a huge year for Netflix, which still maintains its comfortable lead over Prime Video as the biggest streaming service in the world. Netflix began the year with The Rip, the Miami-set crime thriller starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon that spent weeks atop streaming charts. The film was the most-watched Netflix movie of 2026 until the start of March, when the premiere of War Machine. The Alan Ritchson-led sci-fi blockbuster brought in millions of views during its first few days on streaming, setting up a gap that will be tough for any competitor to close this year. Netflix is also in the middle of one of its most anticipated TV returns, One Piece, the live-action series based on the popular anime that’s been around for years.
Right now, Netflix subscribers have a variety of three plans: Standard, Standard with Ads, and Premium. These plans start at $7.99, $17.99, and $24.99 per month, though subscribers have watched them rise steadily over the last few years. Unfortunately, Netflix has announced yet another price increase, which will see its Standard with Ads plan increased by $1, while each other plan will rise by $2. The Standard with Ads plan is now $8.99, the Standard plan is $19.99, and the Premium plan is $26.99. It’s quickly approaching being $30 for the Netflix Premium plan, more than double what it was when it first launched years ago. Fortunately, there are bundles available for most other streaming services to help make things cheaper. However, while Netflix can fetch a lower price through phone and internet providers, it has yet to team up with another streaming service to offer a cheaper bundle.

The most popular movie on Netflix at the time of writing is The Immortal Man, the Peaky Blinders sequel film starring Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Ferguson. Ferguson also has another movie at the top of Prime Video streaming charts, Mercy, the sci-fi thriller co-starring Chris Pratt. It’s the first time this year that a movie star has new films in the #1 spot on streaming charts on multiple platforms. One Piece is still the most popular show on Netflix right now, but Love & Death, the HBO show starring Elizabeth Olsen, is giving it a run for its money.
